Scriblet is the quiet heartbeat of Scriblet’s Hollow—an odd, silver-bearded gnome who’s never quite fit in, though he’s been part of the community longer than most can remember. To the others, he’s a harmless eccentric. To the children, he’s a source of whispered wonder and mischief. And to the forest itself, he’s something like a mirror.
He feels deeply—too deeply—and doesn’t always know what to do with everything he absorbs. So he writes. He spins the feelings into fables and free verse, tucking meaning into mossy corners and behind moonlit metaphors. Sometimes his stories are somber, sometimes strange, but always honest.
He doesn’t write for children, though they often pester him for stories. He doesn’t write for fame, though villagers read him in secret. He writes to make sense of the weight he carries—and maybe, in doing so, lift a bit of it from the rest of us.
Scriblet has left bits of himself marking the Hollow, if you look around you’ll see his little quips here and there. He does love a good ‘ism’, his favorite just might be “Ideas don’t arrive. They emerge. Like rabbits. Muddy and too fast to catch cleanly.”
Scriblet invites you to look around the Hollow. Mind the rabbit holes though, they are deep.
